O2S14 Outsouricng to Sarajevo 2014
Video
Outsourcing or in this case “Outsourcing to Sarajevo 2014” O2S14, Is a large-scale outdoor public sculpture and exhibition/performance platform in a modified form of the word Outsourcing.
It is designed to offer its guests the opportunity to enter the space of the sculpture and by passing through the labyrinth, in route to viewing images from selected artists that have been wallpapered onto the entire interior including the floor, they are the only objects in the space and by taking an active role, become part if its content.
It is the intent that its host city leaves its distinct footprint on the work through the structural fabrication and the post production and documentation. To present a work of art as a catalyst for cultural exchange to occur and instate that its content is inherent in the initiative of those who engage with it, is its end game.

What is considered a “dirty word” in global economic circles, becomes a positive experience in its physical and visual incarnation for the citizens of Sarajevo, emancipating the word “Outsourcing” from its negative undertones and transforming it into a positive visual experience.
I have been commissioned by the Federal Chancellery of Austria to represent Österreich at the 2014 Centennial in Sarajevo. As an American artist from NYC, I decided to do a large outdoor public sculpture entitled “Outsourcing to Sarajevo” 2014, which will also operate as an exhibition/performance platform built in the shape of the word Outsourcing.
Wall plan.
Working on the auspice of inclusivity, O2S14’s goal is to sustain a dialogue and engage the community in all facets necessary to produce the work and bring it through fruition of the artist’s vision; that of an enlarged “Trojan horse” that appears as a short yet elongated modern sculpture enflamed in bright lipstick red. Yet upon entry the visitor(s) come upon a labyrinth whose walls are posted with images of the work of 7 Austrian, 6 local contemporary artists artists from the BiH region and a French American artist. At 21 meters long x 6 meters wide x 2 meters high and the floor a sky blue without a roof, the space will appear closed from the outside and open and spacious inside where the only objects in the space are those who enter it, adding to its content.
